Last week, I had the privilege of speaking to almost 500 folks in Los Angeles.
Flying out with our daughter, Anni, confirmed my suspicion that that American Airlines hates customers more than U.S. Air, which they merged with recently. I didn’t think that was possible, but their service and attitudes stink.
On a more productive note, again and again I’m reminded of the power of sharing your personal story.
After the talk, many people approached me as if they knew me personally… and they did, because I shared my personal story.
There is nothing more powerful than The Story of You.
Every story has a different strategic purpose. The purpose of your personal story is to share a struggle, so that people can conclude two things:
- I’m like you.
- I like you.
It’s about you as an overcomer. It’s about your passion. It’s about your “WHY.”
Be sure to include it in every presentation, whether you are in front of a group or one-on-one.
To our Jewish friends, have a blessed Hanukkah.
