The #1 thing you must do for your clients is to always INCREASE THEIR CONFIDENCE!
One of the best ways to do that is to give them PERSPECTIVE.
The media will do the opposite.
It’s their job: to incite fear to increase viewers, readers or listeners. And that includes social media.
Media: Cases of coronavirus SOARS to over 720 in U.S. and 27 people have died. PANIC TIME!
FACT: In 2018-2019, the CDC estimates that the influenza virus was associated with more than 35.5 million illnesses and 34,200 deaths. 1266 times more deadly. 637,000 die of heart disease every year – stress over the corona virus is more deadly than the virus.
Media: Dow PLUNGES more than 2,000 points, biggest decline since 2008.
FACT: Ask your client: If you gave me $1,000,000 and I told you that it would be worth $1,500,000 in 5 years, would you be SATISIFIED? YES! That’s the last 5 years of return in the DJIA.
Media: the sky is falling, the sky is falling.
FACT: I checked. The sky isn’t falling.
Media: Our local station has SEVERE WEATHER report… daily.
FACT: I checked. The weather is NOT severe… everyday. In fact, it’s RARELY EVER severe.
