If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs…
The virus (and the government’s overblown and economically debilitating actions) have and will create loss for everyone. To date, over 17 million Americans have filed for unemployment, more than 1 out of every 10 working Americans.
Loss of health. Some, loss of life. Loss of a job. Loss of freedom. Loss of investments. Loss of income. Loss of future plans and dreams…
When people lose something of value, they go through a process: GRIEF.
Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and David Kessler have co-authored two books on grieving the loss of a loved one and outlined a 5-step process they call The Five Stages of Grief.
Most will not have lost of loved one through this crisis, but the loss of what we love WILL create GRIEF.
People are people, so it’s not a move from one stage to another neatly and cleanly process. The feelings can be mixed together and you can move in and out of stages.
The stage are: 1. Denial; 2. Anger; 3. Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance.
Who will grieve? Your family. Your employees. Your clients. And… YOU!
Most are stunned right now, and in denial. Like getting punched in the stomach.
You have the unique opportunity to lead your family, employees and clients through these times.
Expect grief… and the emotions that go with it. For family. For employees. For clients. And for you.
Who’s leading you, so you can lead others well? Who’s giving you what you need to bring your clients value through this crisis?
This is the right time to decide who YOU will follow through this crisis. Every great leader is first, and foremost, a great follower.
This is an unprecedented opportunity to lead your clients. If you bring them VALUE through this time, you will get their lifetime loyalty. They will never leave you.
Uncertainty multiplies the effects of loss.
Do this: create a THINGS I’M CERTAIN OF LIST.
In uncertainty, it’s imperative to reaffirm what you are certain of. Make this list. See. There are many things that will NOT change through this.
One of the things that will not change is our commitment to YOU and YOUR SUCCESS. We are here to help!
