I had to decide who to listen to…
These are challenging days. Lots of uncertainty. You must make decisions that will determine your results in and through the coming recession.
Apple’s Steve Jobs, Google’s Larry Page and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos all employed the same success secret. It’s not a new secret. It’s the same secret that John D. Rockefeller employed.
What’s the secret?
Coaching.
In 2004, my wife, Beth, and I found ourselves in a half a million dollars of business debt.
$463,459.15 to be exact.
Having made some poor business decisions, I had to exit my partner out of the business and take over all the business debt. It left us deep in the hole – economically. And personally.
I felt like a total failure.
When the accountants and bankers reviewed our situation, they recommended that we immediately cut “two big expenses.”
They said we would die slowly if we didn’t cut the amount that we spent on marketing and coaching.
It was a challenge. We were deep in debt. The answer was clear. I told them that if we cut those two “investments,” we would die quickly.
With God’s grace and the coaching I continued to invest in, we were able to turn the company around and pay off all the business debt.
Who are you listening to?
Propinquity… or… Authority?
The Propinquity Effect is the natural tendency to form friendships, and even romantic relationships, with those whom you encounter often. It also means that you will solicit their counsel, and or approval, for your important decisions, because you respect them as a person. Not because they have proven experience.
Jobs, Page, Bezos, Rockefeller (and almost all successful business people) hire Authority – a proven coach who has successfully shown others a proven PATH to SUCCESS.
So, here’s my question for you: “What important decision are you facing and who are you getting input from?”
Propinquity… or… Authority?
Make a list. The Most Imporant Decisions I Need To Make.
Get Authority Input from your coach. Or hire an Authority if you don’t have one.
