Every Monday morning in our Strategic Huddle (part of our Make It Happen Efficiency Explosion System), every person on the team shares their answer to this question, “What are you grateful for?”
I used to hate this question.
Well, not hate it.
That’s too strong. It made me feel frustrated… until I understood why.
It’s because I compare where I am and what I have with my Future Story, leaving me always feeling frustrated. Because once I have it, I take it for granted, until…
Something had to change for me. It wasn’t right to feel frustrated when I have been blessed with so many things.
So, instead of answering that question, I decided to think about my Gratitude Assets. To build a list of the MOST valuable things I possess.
Try it.
Take 2 pieces of paper. Leave one blank. On the other, list your Gratitude Assets.
Now, look at the blank sheet of paper and imagine all your Gratitude Assets were gone. Put the two side by side.
How do you feel?
This exercise gives perspective because it answers the question, “Compared to what?”
G.K. Chesterton said, “Gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”
YOU would be on our Gratitude Asset list! Hopefully, we are on yours! 🙂
